Ingredients

  • 500 grams Raw Coconut Flakes / Chips 2 cups
  • 2 tbsp Tamari sauce Alternative: Coconut Aminos
  • Pinch Himalayan Salt / Pink Salt Can omit the salt. It's all a matter of taste and preference

Equipment

  • oven

Method

  1. Heat convection oven to 120 degree celcius.
  2. In a glass mixing bowl combine the coconut flakes and Tamari sauce.
  3. Using a mixing spoon, toss the Tamari through the coconut flakes. Make sure it's all lightly coated.
  4. Spread the coconut flakes across the baking sheet. Make sure there is no clumping so that the flakes bake evenly.
  5. Place the baking sheet in the heated oven and bake for 20 min. At 10 min (halfway) mix and turn the coconut flakes so that it all 'browns' evenly.
  6. If you prefer it crunchier and darker, bake it for an extra 5-10 minutes.
  7. Once baked, add the Himalayan salt to season or you can omit the salt if you prefer.

Notes

Cook's notes: For a darker, golden brown colour and crunchier texture, bake in the oven for an extra 5-10 minutes.
